The product has good quality though. Even the smaller blade of the two is too large, they should provide a real small one.
I'm a pretty big guy and it takes some effort to push through a potato through the small cutting windows.Large potato's don't fit and will need to be trimmed, but the results are decent sized fries that you would see in a restaurant. This cutter works and has two great sizes for large and small french fries. It is not for people who lack upper body strength and it is critical to line up the vegetable so that is cuts straight and does not go in at an angle.
After learning about our dinner, my mom bought this gadget for my cooking buddy, and he thinks it's the greatest thing since his xbox live. It's much quicker and whole lot more fun to cut them with our newest gadget. My son bought me a GE Deep Fryer for Christmas (could this have been a hint about his food preferences). It doesn't bother us to cut the potatoes in half when we're making french fries. Unless you're cooking for a huge crowd, this could be all the cutter you need. At any rate, the first time we made fries for dinner guests, he peeled five pounds of potatoes and I showed him how to cut them into french fries. The fries were a big hit with Mike and our dinner guests.
Cleanup in the dishwasher has never been an issue. Not sure why people want to complain about being to small.read the description and do your research before buying. We give this a complete thumbs up. Softer veggies can be an issue, but not the cutters fault. Progressive makes a JUMBO model if that's your need. We have utilized out cutter several times and it works flawlessly and with ease in our opinion.
Changing blades is simple. Using this with russert, reds, or yukon golds, makes fast and easy work of cutting potatoes for french fries.m CLean up is simple. Simply put, this does what it is supposed to do, make frenched fries. Although I havnt tried this with yam/sweet potato.
